Narrative
This is a picture of Auntie Annie in 1963, taken in the back of her garden in Treboeth, Swansea. In the large version of the picture is my grandfather Ivor Thomas. I am sitting in his lap. Family history has telling of her being very extravagant, I have a memory of a gateway being constructed of balancing stones, the cost of which was considered prohibitive. When I visited her, her home was filled sewing projects, the cut off's she would let me play with. She was a widow and supported herself as a dressmaker. My mother's wedding dress was a Annie creation. I know nothing about her husband, but assume she was widowed early as she had no children. She was the eldest daughter of William Evans and tragic Edith, Edith dying while Annie and her sisters where all tiny. The only other piece of word of mouth history is my Auntie Lois telling me about a healthy completion between her sister Gwenda and herself. The bridesmaids dress I am wearing in my cousin Helens wedding was made by Grandmother Gwenda .
